James Deriu, Vice President, Regional Practice Leader, KCI Technologies

As KCI’s Regional Practice Leader and Vice President for Natural Resources, James leads a staff of more than 30 environmental professionals in the assessment, design, and implementation of ecological restoration and permitting projects supporting NPDES and TMDL compliance programs throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. James manages and directs the assessment, survey, design, construction, inspection, and monitoring of stream and wetland restoration efforts and biological assessment projects throughout the Chesapeake Bay region, including active projects in MD, PA, VA, DE, and WV. He participates in the construction phase of projects to ensure both environmental commitments and design requirements are implemented and he frequently serves as the principal contact for KCI’s most complex local, state, and federal permitting efforts. James supports corporate strategic planning and visioning for KCI.

He recently served as an advisor to the Natural Resources Working Group of the Baltimore County Sustainability Network, has formerly served as an appointed member of the Baltimore County Advisory Commission on Environmental Quality (CEQ) and is the immediate past Chair of the American Council of Engineering Company’s Maryland (ACEC/MD) Environmental Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for ACECMD and also Neighbor-Space of Baltimore County, a non-profit land trust focused on preserving and developing green space in the County’s urban areas.
