Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Senior Electrical/Electronic Control Technician at our BWI Airport field office within our Environmental Monitoring Division. This position encompasses all aspects of controls systems and PLC software development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reviewing panel layouts, wiring schematics, PLC diagrams and other technical documents to solve problems with equipment, configure PLC's and other system components, and the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment used for a variety of environmental projects. This position is designated emergency essential, and therefore the ability to work nights, weekends and during adverse weather conditions will be required.
Required qualifications include: a HS Diploma/GED, plus 5 years of experience performing installation, fabrication, repair and maintenance of electrical/electronic equipment. Formal schooling from an accredited vocational school may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis for up to 3 years of the required experience. This position requires the ability to troubleshoot and repair VFD (Variable Frequency Drives), and the ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance/repairs for PLCs (Programmable Logic Controller). Must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points, the ability to lift 50lbs, and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. This position requires the ability to obtain a Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications include: PLC programming experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley/Automation Direct (ControlLogix & CompactLogix), Modicon and Siemens (S7). A Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License is also preferred.
