The Injured Workers' Insurance Fund (IWIF) this year chose to honor MES with its "Safety Saves With IWIF Premier Partnership" Award for 2004.

According to Donna C. Wilson, vice president of Corporate Services for IWIF, the award is the result of the Service's management commitment to safety, the safety focus of the agency's employees and a recommendation from the State Employee Risk Management Administration.

"We are honored to receive this award," said Director John Sparkman. "Creating a culture of safety at MES continues to be a top priority for this management team. I also am proud of our employees' efforts to develop safe workplaces."

IWIF is the leading provider of workman's compensation insurance in Maryland. The fund insures the Service.

"IWIF strongly believes that all interested parties benefit from workplace safety, and we recognize and celebrate our policyholders who believe in it and work with us to provide exceptionally safe workplaces," said Wilson.
