MIDSHORE II
The
second phase of the Midshore Counties cooperative solid
waste partnership is MIDSHORE REGIONAL SOLID WASTE
FACILITY II.
Midshore
II, is slated to open by 2011, two miles east of the town
of Ridgely in Caroline County. The site is partially
bordered on the east by Holly Road, on the north by River
Road, and to the south by Holsinger Lane. The 223.5 acre
property consists of two adjacent parcels.
The
original parcel of approximately 18 acres was acquired in
1965 by the Caroline County Commissioners, which contains
the existing inactive Holly Road Landfill. The second
parcel of approximately 205 acres was purchased in 1975
to provide for future expansion of the then-operational
Holly Road Landfill, and as a source of sand and gravel
for County roads and construction projects.
