MIDSHORE II
The
second phase of the Midshore Counties cooperative solid
waste partnership is MIDSHORE REGIONAL SOLID WASTE
FACILITY II.
The Midshore
II Facility is located on 223 acres purchased by Caroline
County at 12236 River Road, Ridgely, MD. Major
milestones for the new
Midshore II site
are:
October 2006 - Submit Phase II Report to Maryland
Department of the Environment (MDE)
January 2007 - Begin
Landfill Design & Public Informational Meeting regarding
Refuse Disposal Permit Application December 2007 -
Phase II approved by MDE; Phase III Report submitted to MDE
May 2008 - MES submitted NOI (for construction of
facility) to MDE September 2008 - MDE conducted
public hearing on tentative approval of Refuse Disposal
Permit February 2009 - MDE issues Refuse Disposal
Permit for the construction and operation; MES issues
Invitation to Bid for the construction May 2009 -
Construction contract awarded to
David A. Brambles to
construct the facility September 2010 - Substantial
Completion of Midshore II Facility; Certificate of
Occupancy issued by Caroline County Department of
Planning October 11, 2010 - "First Trash Day" -
Acceptance of "soft" trash begins
December
31, 2010 - Midshore I closes January 3, 2011
- Landfill opens for the
acceptance of all Midshore trash.

At Midshore II, MES also operates
the Homeowners'
Drop Off Center (HODO) where Midshore residents
may bring trash and recycle
used oil, textiles, metal and batteries. The HODO
is located at 11960 Holly
Road, Ridgely, MD 21660.
