| The Service employs a robust staff
of engineers with varied backgrounds of expertise
to provide project management and related
engineering services to private clients and local,
state and federal government entities.
The
work involves capital improvement projects at
water and wastewater treatment facilities, water
distribution systems and sewage collection systems
where engineering firms are contracted to provide
design services.
Other services consist of trouble-shooting and
investigation of operation problems,
infrastructure assessment of water systems and
sewer systems with a particular focus on
inflow/infiltration problems, storm water
pollution prevention plan preparation and
mitigation, design of small on-site sewage
disposal systems, well and potable water treatment
installation, and construction management and
inspection services.
The agency also provides engineering services
to small or medium sized municipalities to assist
them in management of engineering design and
construction of capital improvement projects or
other public works projects.
Finally, the staff assists municipalities in
applying and administering grants and loans from
the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE),
and the United States Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA), or the Farmers' Home Administration
(FmHA).
