To
accommodate the complete energy needs of the
Eastern Correctional Institution in Somerset
County, MD, MES operates and maintains a
co-generation facility that burns wood chips as
the primary fuel to
produce high-pressure steam, high temperature
hot water and steam for centralized laundry
operations.
The co-generation facility operates to provide a
high degree of reliable services to the
Institution. The
four-megawatt plant operates in parallel with the
local utility and the steam generation plant has
duel fuel capabilities.
