To
accommodate the complete energy needs of the
Eastern Correctional Institution in Somerset
County, MD, MES operates and maintains a
co-generation facility that burns wood chips to
create low-pressure steam, high temperature
hot water, and electricity to the Delmarva Power
& Light Company.
The
four-megawatt plant uses two Cleaver-Brooks water
tube D-type package boilers to create power. These
boilers can use both wood chips and number two
oil.
