Water Supply & Wastewater Treatment

Ensuring a safe drinking water supply and minimizing the environmental impact of residential and industrial wastewater discharges are among the primary functions of Maryland Environmental Service. We are well versed in the administrative and technical requirements necessary to guarantee a safe water supply and keep wastewater discharges in compliance with federal and state regulations.

We provide a full range of stormwater, water supply and wastewater treatment services. Our capabilities include: financing, engineering design, construction inspection, laboratory testing, operation, maintenance and facility supervision.

Our highly trained engineers and construction design specialists guarantee a cost-efficient and environmentally superior water supply, wastewater treatment or stormwater structure, whether its an entirely new facility, an expansion of an existing plant, or modifications to bring a facility into compliance with more stringent standards.

We work with projects as small as simple wastewater pumping stations and as sophisticated as the $13 million Dorsey Run Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facility (Anne Arundel County, MD) one of the most technically advanced systems in Maryland.

MES provides licensed and certified personnel to operate and maintain scores of private, municipal and county plants, as well as all state-owned plants located at correctional institutions, health facilities, rest areas and parks.

Our mechanical and electrical maintenance staff are on call to respond to emergency situations, or manage contractors as needed to effect repairs or rehabilitation of equipment.

We have the equipment and expertise to perform sewer system evaluation reports. Pumping and cleaning services are also provided by MES.

To keep you plant operating at peak efficiency, we maintain contracts with quality control laboratories to monitor drinking water purity and to assure environmentally acceptable wastewater effluent discharge.

To accommodate the complete energy needs of the Eastern Correctional Institution in Somerset County, MD, MES operates and maintains a co-generation facility which burns wood chips to create low pressure steam, high temperature hot water, and electricity to Delmarva Power & Light company.
