Biosolids Management

Maryland Environmental Service possesses 20 years of experience in the management of sewage sludge. Our proven treatment and disposal techniques include the design, installation and operation of lime stabilization systems, surface and sub-surface land application, containment, and restoration of land containment sites..

As operators and managers of public and private wastewater treatment plants across the state, MES manages the disposal of biosolids produced by some 70 facilities.

We utilize comprehensive laboratory techniques to analyze biosolids content to determine suitable disposal methods. Once a method has been identified, MES will prepare engineering feasibility studies and biosolids management plans as well as oversee all activities required for proper permitting and operation.

MES has a staff devoted entirely to monitoring the disposal of biosolids from treatment facilities owned and operated by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission and the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment Plant.
