About MES Frequently Asked Questions MES provides water supply, waste purification, and disposal services in compliance with State laws, regulations and policies governing air, land, and water pollution. MES has a unique structure which allows it to operate as both an agency of government and a non-profit utility. This unique structure enables MES to provide its clients the efficiencies, flexibility and quick response time of the private sector while continuing to fulfill its commitment and dedication to environmental protection and public accountability. MES is self-supporting and does not receive General Funds directly from the State. When was MES created? In 1970 by the Maryland General Assembly.Our enabling legislation is listed under Section 3-103 Natural Resources of the Annotated Code of Maryland. Does MES submit an Annual Report to the General Assembly? MES submits an Annual Report to the General Assembly in October. Copies are on file in the Legislative Services Library. From Baltimore and Areas North:
Head south on 97 and get off the
interstate at Exit 10, Benfield Blvd, heading west. You will pass
through a blinking yellow light and at the four way stop sign take a
left onto Najoles Road. Our new headquarters is about a quarter
mile down the road on the left.
From Annapolis and South
Highway 50 to Interstate 97 North. Take
Exit 10, Benfield Blvd. At the stop light at the bottom of the ramp,
take a left onto Veterans Highway. Proceed to the next light and take a
left onto Benfield Blvd. You will pass over 97 and through a blinking
yellow light and at the four way stop sign take a left onto Najoles Road.
Our new headquarters is about a quarter mile down the road on the left.
