GIS/PROGRAMMING SPECIALIST

Openings exist with Maryland Environmental Service at the Millersville and/or other locations in the Baltimore, Maryland area. 

Requirements include Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Geography or related field with a minimum of 9 credit hours in courses specifically related to GIS, include one (1) additional year of related experience such as developing custom web-based and desktop applications, working with ESRI GIS products (specifically, ArcGIS desktop, ArcIMS, and ArcSDE w/SQL Server back end). Strong programming skills using any combination of the following: Arc Objects (VB,VBA), .NET technologies, JavaScript, HTML, XML, ASP, etc. Understanding of client/server technology, server architecture, and network protocols. In depth knowledge of relational databases such as MS SQL Server. Experience using web authorization and development tools. Must maintain current knowledge of GIS technology, have the ability to work independently, and able to communicate effectively. Direct experience with local or regional government a plus.  Ability to pass medical exam and obtain security clearance.   Valid motor vehicle driver's license with less than 6 points.
