Environmental Specialist III

Maryland Environmental Service has a vacancy for an Environmental Specialist III for the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Division at the Dundalk Marine Terminal, Baltimore, MD site. Primary responsibilities include the following: managing field personnel who perform operations and maintenance activities; perform field investigations; developing and implementing procedures to ensure environmental compliance of activities at multiple marine terminals; and preparing and managing procurements, contracts and budgets. This may include such tasks as the management of hazardous and universal waste, asbestos abatement, and overseeing the handling and disposal of contaminated soil and groundwater.

Minimum qualifications include Bachelors Degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology or a related field from an accredited college or university. Must have five years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering or management, two years of which must have included responsibility for managing environmental projects and supervising environmental professional and technical personnel. Up-to-date 40 Hour Hazardous Materials Training or ability to secure a 40 Hour certification is required for this job. 

An applicable advanced education degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience. Additional requirements include a valid driver's license with less than six points, the ability to lift 50 lbs, and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
