Software Specialist I-II

Environmental Service is hiring a Software Specialist I-II to provide data management assistance to the MD DNR Fisheries Service. Services will include but are not limited to: coordination of data storage and retrieval in the MD DNR Fisheries Service including the commercial catch record keeping; the volunteer angler information; the MRIP survey data; the project level biological and habitat data; and interface with the DNR IT unit on licensing database issues. Services will also include overseeing the processing of commercial catch records into the database; providing commercial catch information online and by request; and overseeing furgher development and maintenance of a centralized database which contains project level biological information. In addition, the position will coordinate with database managers in MD DNR and other state/federal agencies as sneeded by Fisheries Service management.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited four year college or university in computer science, management information systems or other IT related field with course work in database management systems and a minimum of 1 year experience in designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and controlling database management systems for computers. Working knowledge in natural resources and fisheries aplus. Qualified applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Office and database management software similar to Microsoft Access/VBA, Microsoft SQL Server, VBscript and Javascript.
