Specialist II
Maryland Environmental Service is seeking candidates for
database management positions with the Environmental Dredging and Restoration
Division, located at the Tawes State Office Building in Annapolis, MD.
Responsibilities
include:
Data
Management - Inland Fisheries: Candidate will continue to develop Microsoft SQL
and Access database components. Assist with meeting the needs of the Inland
Fisheries Division, integration of data and data products with GIS, developing
rigorous QA/QC for data input, overseeing and assuring compilation of annual
survey data to the database, assuring compatibility of data and summary
information with those from other Fishery Service Divisions, other DNR Units,
and other state and federal agencies where needed, develop and maintain various
components of meta-data, developing data products for public outreach to be
served on the web or for publication.
Data
Management - Tidal Fisheries: Candidate will provide coordination of data
storage and retrieval process of the MD DNR Fisheries Service including the
project level biological and habitat data; the commercial catch record keeping;
the volunteer angler information; the MRIP data; and interface with the DNR IT
unit on license database issues. Services will also include overseeing the
processing of commercial catch records into the database; providing commercial
catch information online and by request; and overseeing further development and
maintenance of a database which contains project level biological information.
In addition, MES staff will coordinate with database managers in MD DNR,
Maryland Department of Environment (MDE), and Maryland Department of Health (MDH),
and provide representation for Maryland Fisheries on the Atlantic Coastal
Cooperative Statistics Program (ACCSP), and National Database Initiative.
Minimum
qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college
or university in computer information technology, management information
systems, computer science, programming, or other IT related field to include
course work in database management systems and a minimum of 1 year experience in
designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and controlling database
management systems for computers. Working knowledge in natural resources and
fisheries a plus! List proficiency of software applications in addition to
salary requirement. A valid drivers license with less than 6 points may be
required.
