SENIOR
SURVEYOR
Maryland Environmental Service has a vacancy for a Senior Surveyor
(Grade 10) in Millersville, Maryland to provide support to the Dredged Material
Containment Facilities of the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Division.
Responsibilities include survey task management, personnel management,
budget management and client support. Survey
related tasks include directing and scheduling field staff, topographic surveys,
stakeout, volume calculations, utility location, environmental area surveys,
survey drawing production and report development.
Desirable candidates will be proficient in the use of Autocad, survey
data post-processing software, total stations and GPS equipment usage.
Experience as a survey party chief, performing wetland delineations or a
current 40-hour OSHA certification would be a plus.
The project sites include, but are not limited to, Poplar Island, Hart
Miller Island, Masonville and Cox Creek.
Minimum qualifications include a valid driver’s license with less
than six points and the following combinations:
Bachelor’s
degree in Survey, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Geo-technical or other
generally recognized field of engineering or survey from an accredited college
or university plus nine years of relevant survey experience, two years of which
included direct supervisory capacity managing survey staff.
OR
Associate’s
degree in Survey, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Geo-technical or other
generally recognized field of engineering or survey from an accredited college
or university plus eleven years of relevant survey experience, two years of
which included direct supervisory capacity managing survey staff.
Note:
A
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure may be substituted for Bachelor’s
degree or four years of the required experience.
A
Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) or Fundamentals of Land Surveying (FLS)
certificate may be substituted for an Associate’s degree or two years of the
required experience.
Certification
by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) as a Certified Survey
Technician may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
Master’s
degree in an engineering discipline or other relevant field may be substituted
for one year of required experience.
