PC/LAN TECHNICIAN

Maryland Environmental Service is looking for a PC/LAN support technician (Grade 4) in Millersville, Maryland.  Responsibilities include providing IT support to corporate headquarters and remote field locations.  Support tasks include installation, configuration, management, preventative maintenance and repair of personal computers and peripherals in a Microsoft based WAN/LAN environment, auditing systems to assure compliance with IT policies and procedures, assisting groups with applying computing technology, maintaining audit logs and managing inventory databases.  Currently, IT is supporting over 50 locations in Maryland with 400+ computers and associated peripheral devices.  Applications supported includes Microsoft Windows 2000 and 2003 file/print services, Microsoft SQL 2000 and 2005 databases, Microsoft Exchange, Blackberry Enterprise messaging system, Altiris Total Management Suite, Symantec EVault email management system, an Enterprise Class SQL based facility and equipment management system, LaserFiche enterprise document imaging system, AutoCAD, GIS and an AS400 based JD Edwards Financial Accounting System. 

Minimum qualifications include Graduation from high school or GED, 1 year certificate in Computer Technology or Information System Technology, A+ Certification, Microsoft Certified Professional or college certificate plus two years experience providing technical computer support in a LAN/WAN environment, including use of Microsoft Office Professional and the Internet.  Must also have a valid driver’s license with less than six points.

Note: Technical Certifications such as Microsoft may be substituted for the education requirement beyond high school.
