In compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Process Safety Management Plan, Maryland Environmental Service conducted an emergency response drill at the Frostburg Water Treatment Plant on October 1. If there ever was an emergency at the facility, local fire departments will assist our employees in containing and controlling it. There was a great turn out from the following wonderful volunteer fire companies – Frostburg, Eastern Garrett County, Shaft, LaVale, Cresaptown and Savage.
Fourty-eight individuals participated in the drill, including MES employees Mike Griffith, Mark Kaiser, Bobby Lancaster, Roger Knox, Rex Bowman, Darren Klink, Wayne Boal, Gail Reilmann and Sue McCauley.
The MES safety team instructed on chlorine safety and the use of an emergency repair kit to contain a chlorine leak from a 150 pound cylinder and conducted drills with a complete dress out and install repair kit.
